Thao & The Get Down Stay Down is A Nguyen Sound in the Music Industry

A Preview for the Thao & The Get Down Stay Down Concert at the Neptune Theater in Seattle WA on January 11th Sponsored by STG

I started listening to Thao & the Get Down Stay Down a few years ago after watching her episode on Boating With Clyde, and immediately fell in love with the awkwardly sexy and energetic folk rock sound of Thao Nguyen’s band, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down. Her sound is very interesting bordering between folk and rock. Her lyrics are powered by her former work with the incarcerated population in San Diego as well as a mix of heartbreak, frustration, and world change. Her use of instrument is simply amazing. Her technique in playing guitar is unique enough to make most guitarists tilt their head, and adding this to her ability to play other instruments such as the slide guitar and the banjo is just beautiful to hear and watch. For anyone who loves folk, rock, punk, technical instrumentals, beautiful lyrics, haunting vocals, or a strong female front artist, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down is an interesting and new flavor in the music industry.

Thao & The Get Down Stay Down will be playing at the Neptune Theater in Seattle Washington on January 10th. The concert is open to all ages and having seen Thao before in concert I know it will be an amazing concert. Opening for Thao will be Sonny and the Sunsets, a wonderfully soft folk beach rock band from San Francisco. If you are looking for some of Thao’s music I suggest that you check out the songs When We Swam and Holy Roller. I hope to see some of you at the show!
