A$AP Rocky headlining Block Party

CHBP Set Time: Sunday July 27th 8:15PM on the Main Stage

A$AP Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, is the smooth and stony Harlem rapper gracing Seattle with his good looks as he headlines the Capitol Hill Block Party performing on the main stage on Sunday, July 27th. Rocky may be the most well known member of the A$AP Mob hip-hop collective where all members (with a few exceptions) share the “A$AP” moniker.

Rocky released his mix tape, LIVE.LOVE.A$AP in 2011 and was followed in 2013 by his first album, LONG.LIVE.A$AP, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. In addition to rapping and being extremely dreamy Rocky also directs music videos, dabbles in fashion design and produces. His latest project has been an instrumental album titled Beauty and the Beast: Slowed Down Sessions, Chapter 1 which he will be droppin’ for free by the end of this summer. Beauty and the Beast is described as a chiller, ambient, yet still hyphy mix and Rocky himself gives good reason to get excited about it by saying to MTV that “Before I got with my girlfriend I f—ed a hundred b-ches to my soundtrack already and it ain’t even out yet”. There is no set release date for Beauty and the Beast and I have my fingers crossed that a preview might happen at Block Party. I’m also hoping that A$AP Rocky will be joined on stage (or vise versa) by A$AP Ferg, another member of the Mob who will be performing at Block Party. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about seeing A$AP Rocky and although they may start with his handsome mug they certainly don’t end there, this up in coming hip-hop giant is one of many good reasons to snag a Capitol Hill Block Party ticket A$AP.
