Maybe one of the most humbly talented musicians of our day, Trey Anastasio is coming to The Showbox SoDo this Tuesday, November 10th with his brilliant band to provide all of the great grooves, bumpin’ beats, and rejuvenating jams that I need to bring my weary soul to life. Trey Anastasio, who has been performing with the eccentrically dazzling jam-band Phish for over thirty years, is now traveling the nation with the Trey Anastasio Band.

The Trey Anastasio Band, originally formed in 1998 as a trio called Eight Foot Fluorescent Tubes, has now evolved into the explosively powerful seven-piece group, who aids in the touring for promotion of Anastasio’s newest album, Paper Wheels (released October 30, 2015). As far as guitarists go, I view Trey Anastasio to be on par with the likes of Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, David Gilmour, and any slow-handed melodic shredder who manipulates the neck to tell a gut-wrenching story like Mr. A does.

Here’s the Trey Anastasio Band at Hangout Fest 2013. The sheer energy of the performance in this video is what makes me eager for next Tuesday:

I imagine this performance will be very jam-oriented, which I am quite alright with. I’m interested to see how this show will contrast from the standard Phish performance, and how the Trey Anastasio Band establishes itself as a separate entity from the group Mr. Anastasio achieved his notoriety with.

You can get your tickets for the show here. Doors open at 6:00, and the show starts at 7:30 at Showbox SoDo Tuesday, November 10th.
